About All Folk
All Folk came about quite organically.
In 2019, while looking for items such as climbing frames and learning towers for our son Charlie, we couldn't find products that we loved that were within our price range. Jez would often exclaim 'I could make that!'.... and so it began.
Jez has had a lifelong passion for woodwork and making - he had already made many items around our house… a dining table, floating shelves, side gates and many baby proofing customisations (all created with beauty and function being top priority). Jez later started framing my artworks, as I had rediscovered my love of creating art, and wanted to hang some of my work in our house.
After that, he made a learning tower, a climbing frame, and some sets of blocks. That's when friends and family started asking whether they could commission some pieces of their own.
Jez's attention to detail and love of furniture creation saw us taking custom orders for bespoke pieces - like tables, desks, frames, chopping boards and even front doors. Jez loves a challenge and he especially loves creating unique design features that enhance usability while enhancing aesthetic appeal.
We're now building our online store with everyday items, while taking limited commissions for furniture and other larger household items.
We're a small, family business. We create in our home workshop and use recycled materials wherever possible. By sourcing timber to reuse and repurpose we can create pieces that have true depth of character while being kind to the planet. Sometimes we are able to salvage timber ourselves from local renovations or demolitions, and sometimes we purchase timber from recycled timber yards who sell wood that has been salvaged from larger jobs like decommissioned buildings or old wharves. We really value treading lightly on our planet, because we strongly believe that we don't inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children. By investing in quality items, we can consume less and make the choice to be mindful in our purchases.
